Imagine Your Ideal Lifestyle
Last time, I discussed the first step of Marie Kondo’s KonMari Method: committing to getting organized. The true goal of organizing your home is to clear away clutter so you can live the life you want. That’s why the next step is to imagine and describe that life in detail. A clear vision will keep you motivated and focused as you put your home in order.
Set aside time to do this exercise. Your vision will be a powerful tool throughout the organizing process, helping you decide what to keep and what to let go of.
Choose How to Record Your Thoughts
Write in a journal, draw, create a vision board, record a voice memo, or use another format that feels natural to you.
Reflect on Your Current Lifestyle
What do your days look like?
How do you spend your time?
What is getting in the way of how you want to feel and live?
Be As Specific As Possible
Now, imagine what your ideal lifestyle looks like after you finish organizing your home.
What does the beginning and end of your day look like?
How do you want to live in your home?
How do you feel?

Remember that tidying your home is really about getting you closer to spending your time, energy, and resources in ways that feel good to you. Having a clear sense of what that means will help you make better decisions about what to keep and what to let go of.
